Studio Dance Program

This program is designed for our students who have graduated out of the Early Childhood Program classes.  All classes are now stand alone including ballet and tap.  Dancers learn far more than technique and movement. We believe the discipline of dance training gives our children a better understanding of commitment, time management, hard work, and self confidence. Our goal is to educate the minds, bodies, and souls of our students, teaching them the skills needed for a successful life.

Class Descriptions

BALLET Ballet technique is the foundation for all styles of dance. The focus is on learning proper body alignment and balance while increasing each dancer’s turnout.  Dancers learn to execute classical movements with grace. The correct terminology is utilized in class including all entry-level classes.  This class encompasses barre work, center floor work, traveling progressions, and short combinations.  This class is one hour long. Dress Code

POINTE Every young ballerina’s dream!  An advanced form of ballet where the dancer is wearing specifically designed shoes to enable her to dance on the tips of her toes.  A teacher’s discretion is needed for placement in this class.  Not every dancer is ready for pointe at the same time but we begin pointe around the age of 12. LYRICAL A combination of ballet and jazz technique put together to tell a story through dance.  The movement helps bring the lyrics of a song to life and convey the message of the song.  Lyrical is very fluid and expressive.  It is very emotional and passionate. Dancers must have had one year of jazz experience in the past two years OR be currently enrolled in jazz. This class is one hour. Dress Code

CONTEMPORARY Contemporary explores the core concepts of space, time, and energy as well as the qualitative approach to movement.  Each class will integrate concepts of weight, quality, effort, spatial/physical awareness, and clarity in movement.  Dancers must have had one year of ballet experience in the past two years OR currently be enrolled in ballet.  This class is one hour. TAP In the entry levels, emphasis is placed on basic rhythm and learning to make different sounds with all parts of the tap shoe.  As the dancer begins to understand basic tap techniques, speed is increased and more complex, and multiple rhythms are introduced.  Dancers will work rhythm and timing while increasing agility. This class is one hour long. Dress Code

JAZZ This class is energetic, upbeat, fun, and can range from technical to funky!  It always begins with a thorough warm-up of stretching but also incorporates ballet techniques needed to perform the fancy turns and big leaps that help define jazz dance.  We highly recommend dancers take ballet along with jazz. This class is one hour long. Dress Code
